Complacency Antidote

[mk_dropcaps style="fancy-style"]T[/mk_dropcaps]here is something about being around other people that spurs us on to do more. Ever notice how on the days you stay at home and do nothing, or interact with very few people, that it is very easy to get really slow and complacent? Inertia sets in, our usual effort and activity begins to seem like so much work. Compare that to how you are in any group environment. The energy feeds off itself making it seemingly easier to do even more than what is normal. Think about a group workout environment, you can go for longer and harder than you do alone. Now picture those key partnerships you have and how you both can so easily influence each other’s decisions because of the trust established. When you carry the same priorities, if your partner decides to go the extra mile, you are suddenly more motivated to do the same. You inoculate yourselves to the influence of complacency in those truly powerful and focused partnerships. That is the power of connection.

Our God wants us to live not from a place of lack and scarcity, or even from having just enough, but from the place of abundance. In John 10:10 the Lord makes it clear:

[mk_blockquote style="line-style" font_family="none" text_size="16" align="center"]I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. [/mk_blockquote]

Not only abundantly but MORE abundantly. Our world is centered around the immediate and yet limited response. God’s process may seem slower on our terms, but is infinite and everlasting. I don’t know about you, but that is the kind of life I want to lead!

I want to leave a legacy worth leaving. To combat the complacency and instant gratification obsession of human nature takes being anchored into relationships that are part of a community dialed into a God vision.  This level of vision takes far more than one person to be accomplished.  This vision feeds a level of passion that produces action that builds momentum through the flow of God's love.  It is an organic and unstoppable force knit together through the bond of partnership.  This kind of bond will face challenges, but there will be no doubt that the hand of God’s favor rests over it.

If you feel alone or unsure if you have these kinds of relationships take 10-15 min today to shut off the noise and distractions and seek God. Sit or walk in a place without distractions and ask God to show you who your divine partnerships are.  He will bring them to mind. If you do not currently have people in your life that share the same values, ask God where to go to become planted and find them. We are built for love. That means we thrive best in community. The antidote to complacency is dispensed only through partnerships. Develop them and as a team watch momentum begin to build as you advance toward God’s purpose and plan for you, and the team as a whole. Together we are better, for we can do more, for longer, without stopping.
